Anodyne Therapy

We are excited to inform you that we are using a well-established technology called Anodyne Infrared Therapy System with our patients. This infrared therapy assists in reduction or elimination of pain and faster healing of all types of wounds and injuries. Excellent clinical outcomes have been demonstrated even for Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) including restoration of sensation.

The Anodyne Therapy System has been cleared by the FDA and has been used safely on thousands of patients for over 10 years for reduction of pain and increasing local circulation.

The Navy SEALS, professional and amateur sports teams, podiatrists, chiropractors, and wound care centers are the most common users of the Anodyne Therapy System.

Anodyne is safe for use over your eyes, metal implants or surgical hardware, pacemakers, open growth plates, and on children. The only location not to use Anodyne is over an active cancer site such as a tumor, or over the womb of a pregnant woman.

The Anodyne Therapy System uses a specific type of light called monochromatic infrared energy (MIRE) to increase local circulation and reduce pain by releasing nitric oxide (NO) from red blood cells. Nitric oxide is a powerful vasodilator, meaning it opens up the blood vessels to allow more blood flow. The localized release of NO improves nerve function and is also important for growing new blood vessels and skin cells necessary for wound healing.

Low levels of nitric oxide are common in patients with diabetes and are recognized to be major contributing factors in the poor microcirculation, numbness in the feet and legs, foot ulceration and pain of DPN. The outcomes that we have been achieving in our facility include:

  • Faster healing of all types of injures (i.e. muscle strain/sprain, herniated disc, frozen shoulder, burns, bone fractures, nerve injuries and pain, post-surgical incisions and wounds)
  • Better pain management (people take less or no pain medication after our treatments)
  • Improved wound healing in chronic non-healing wounds
  • Faster healing and prevention of pressure ulcers
  • Restoration of sensation in diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN)
  • Improved gait and balance with potential to reduce falls due to DPN and arthritis pain
  • Potential to prevent amputations in diabetic patients

Anodyne is non-invasive, drug-free and safe. When we use Anodyne Therapy, patients experience comfortable warmth. For the best results, treatments last 30-45 minutes. Patients generally see results in 3-5 treatments for minor injuries, 8-10 treatments for moderate injuries, and 15-20 treatments for more serious conditions.

Dr Rick Asks some important questions of interest to Aurora residents - Chiropractor Aurora Dr Rick Asks...

Do chiropractors prescribe medications for the pain?
No. Chiropractic is a drug-free approach to better health. Instead, we rely on natural methods. We can show you how to use ice to control pain. When properly applied, ice can have an analgesic effect without the unwanted and sometimes dangerous effects of pain medications.
Could a chiropractor put an end to bedwetting?
If bladder control seems elusive, consider chiropractic. If spinal bones are interfering with nerves that control your child's bladder, plastic sheets, alarms and other methods simply add to the embarrassment. Aurora parents are often amazed (and relieved) that chiropractic can be so helpful. Learn more.
