What Your Shoes and Hands Say About Your Health

Your Shoes Might Be Talking to You

Did you know your shoes can show if your feet are out of balance? Just like uneven tires on a car mean it’s time for a realignment, uneven shoe wear can mean your feet—and even your knees, hips, or back—may be misaligned too.

Here are 3 clues to look for:

1️⃣ Shoes Tilt Inward: Place your worn shoes on a flat surface. If they tilt inward at the heel, you might overpronate—meaning your feet roll inward too much. This can cause foot pain, knee pain, shin splints, heel pain, and even back problems.

2️⃣ Shoes Tilt Outward: If your shoes tilt outward, you may over-supinate. This means your feet roll outward and put too much weight on the outside edges. It’s common for people with high arches and can lead to ankle sprains, heel spurs, stress fractures, and hip or back pain.

3️⃣ Bulging Toe Box: If you see a bump on the side of your shoe near the big toe or little toe, you could be developing a bunion or bunionette. These happen when foot bones get out of alignment, causing the forefoot to widen and push out the shoe.

Good news: Chiropractic foot adjustments are gentle and can help realign your feet, ease pain, and prevent bigger problems later.
